maths at durham - admissions tests

Hi, I am applying to maths at durham this year and im taking the tmua and mat. I'm not too confident on them and I'm worried if this will affect my chances of getting in. does anyone know of anyone who didn't take these tests and still got in or know if not performing too good in these would reduce my chances of getting in. my ucas grades are 4xA* for reference but because tmua and mat are so different to alevel I am finding them a little hard. Any other info/pieces of advice would be greatly appreciated. -thank you.

Hiya,

Unfortunately I don't know all that much about the tmua and mat but It may be worth directing these questions to Maths students on UniBuddy as they'll be able to answer any specific questions about the course/requirements etc 🙂 You can speak to them directly on here Unibuddy Chat with a student from Durham University - Durham University

Hope this helps and Best of Luck!

When I attended the Maths open day they said that their standard offer was A*A*A with A* in Maths and Further Maths.

Their website says that a 5.0 in this years TMUA (6.5 in last years due to grade changes) would get you a reduced offer of A*AA (with A* in maths or further maths)

So my read is that the TMUA offers you a possibility of a reduced offer but is certainly not compulsory.

Also the TMUA results get sent to them automatically, you have to submit the MAT results to them.
