Feeling really overwhelmed with work 1 month into Sixthform; anyone else?

Having a rough time. Feeling extremely sink or swim with my work.

Im taking 4 subjects (really 3 and a half,) Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Core Maths. Things aren’t going my way at all, I always end up doing homework and revision rushed the day before deadlines/exams, and doing terribly. I love my subjects, but its all so much! So much new stuff and work.

Just want to know if anyone else is feeling this same way, and any tips.

I also got 4 subjects for A levels and after few days I realised that taking four subjects doesn't really worth struggling for 2 years. Take time for yourself and think do you really need this, would you be happy even if you did all of these subjects .. dropping core maths could really help you to get a heads up during your A Level time period. Be kind to yourself and remember taking time for yourself isn't selfish at all. You can always end up doing a course for maths for even your other subjects that might get enough knowledge and UCAS points for your higher studies.

Just think about your mental health and be realistic about your goals.

Lots of love and at least, don't choose something you're going to regret your whole life about it or something that would mentally/physically put your down

REALLLL, i honestly thought i was the only one! I'm doing biology, chemistry and maths with an epq, so similar to what you're doing for your A-Levels.
Tell me why i have so much work in a DAY, let alone a week??? I know that A-Levels are different to gcses and that the workload is greater but we came back from 3 months of doing no work lol. I think we need to adjust to this for our own mental and physical wellbeing.

For me, i downloaded forest/flora which it can basically plant cute flowers/plants when you're studying/revising and now i'm determined to have a complete forest of them 😀 meaning that i'm determined to study more. It's not just because of that, but as you realise because I want to study more, school work becomes a lot easier.

However, if you come back from school/college tired (every day), then blurting what you remember from lessons and filling any gaps is a good starter to start work, especially when you learn new things.
Practicing this methd: 20 mins of work, 5 min break, 20 mins of work, 5 min break etc - like breaking things into smaller chunks is best at understanding concepts and for the message to get across!
Doing homework/ revision for test the day before is so relatable but it IS a BAD habit and it's good that you know (and me) for it to stop. I've been using quizlet for quick flashcards and woah it SAVED my chemistry mini test 😀 😀
Invest in quizlet!!

I don't know about you, but with me, I KNOW I could be finishing the work easily (I'm just good at that for some reason lol) but I DON'T which forces me to do everything last minute. And now I have 2 tests tomorrow, which I haven't practised for, which is killing me right now. :pizza:

- Get a text book
- read the chapters you need for your test Just take your time and don't highlight or underline anything but read it thoroughly
- when you're done understanding what that chapter says write key points like the main topic and what it says and don't worry too much about subheadings (because you read your textbook once) + use black pen - have a 5 minute break

- get your colour pens out and summarize what you've done in your black pen before your break and have a good night sleep wake up and go to school as usual

- read your textbook again Get your notes from last night and read it And that's it don't be stressed you can't do any more than it in that time anyways so don't waste time stressing out that doesn't make you feel better at all.

Btw good luck with your exams

One of them is UKMT, so I'm cooked.
The other one is a subject test (Chem), but I don't know what the test is on 😐️ :pizza:

Go to chatgpt and get a list content page for topics and just write the definition and 3 bullet points using a black pen. Get your textbook and summarize bullet points using a colour pen by summarizing one bulletpront by 2 facts or extend notes

Keep feeling like this, usually mid week when i realise how much work i have to do but i generally feel better toward the end of the week when I’ve had time to do it. What im finding helpful is i have a planner where i write down what im doing on a day and then do it, and also i have a gyg blog to hold myself accountable. Ive got an insane amount of work on top of homework which im doing so i can make revision resources and do practice questions as i go so yeah its intense but i know that im doing extra and learning about what i love so i don’t mind too much 🙂
