Subjects required for dentistry (URGENT REPLY NEEDED)

Hi all! I just started doing a levels 2 months ago. I choose physics, chemistry, biology and core maths as I want to do medical in the future. My aim is to be a dentist. Thinking about those subject before I was totally fine and excited to learn more about them. Then after taking few classes I felt like physics was going over my head. I told few of my head teachers about it and they suggested me few other subjects like sociology, physcology or health and social care. I asked my parents about it and they said no to physcology. Now I am confused what to choose from the remaining two subjects. My dad is saying I should do health and social care because it is related to medicine. I am curious to learn sociology as I searched about it and get to know that it was one of the easiest a levels out of all. Can anyone please guide me if I should drop physics for any of those two if yes then which one is best for dentistry? Or if I should keep physics? Also please let me know do all uni required physics a levels for dentistry?
Thanks alot!
Hey. If you’re not enjoying physics, definitely swap it out. Is core maths an a level? Or BTEC? I’d look at swapping physics for an A level, rather than a vocational course. Something like psychology would be a good idea. That being said, I’m applying to medicine this year with bio, chem and history so really, the choice is yours as long as you already have bio and chem. I don’t know any unis that specifically want physics, usually they just ask for biology OR chemistry and another science, which you already meet taking both bio and chem. Dropping physics won’t negatively impact you in anyway as a future dentistry student, as long as you take another a level and not a vocational as unis want 3 a levels for dentistry. Hope this helps and good luck on your journey!

Sorry I forgot to mention core maths is half a level. And thank you so much for your reply!

No worries! Okay, maybe look at taking maths a level then? That would be perfect for dentistry. If you don’t want to double up on the maths (totally understandable), you have all the options because you already have biology and chemistry. Psychology is a good shout, as are any other a levels. From researching for myself for med, most unis (beside Cambridge) only ask for two sciences/maths and a third academic subject, so take an a level you enjoy!
