Medicine university application with low UCAT

Hey, I'am in year 13 looking to apply to undergraduate medicine. I have a UCAT score of 2520 and Band 2, with GCSE grades 99998887776 (6 in English lang). Could anyone suggest any good universities to apply to? I've currently looked at Keele, Plymouth, Bangor and Aberdeen, but I'am not too sure.

They seem like good options. Well done on your UCAT, no matter how you do on it, doing it is such an achievement because it’s super stressful. Your choices seem like good options that you have researched. What I would say is be careful with both Bangor and Aberdeen if you’re classed as an English student. Maybe apply to one but not both, although I’m not entirely sure what Bangor’s policy is (ie whether they prioritise Welsh students). Keele and Plymouth seem like great options. Maybe have a look at Norwich or even somewhere like Queens Belfast as you have amazing GCSEs. Many congrats and the best of luck!

Hi there, well done on your UCAT and GCSEs!

It’s great that you’re looking at options like Keele and Plymouth. Regarding Bangor and Aberdeen, definitely check their policies for English . I’d also recommend considering UEA (University of East Anglia). With your strong GCSEs, you might be a good fit for the course. UEA places a lot of emphasis on a supportive learning environment and has a modern approach to teaching medicine, which might be worth exploring.

Let me know if you've got any questions about UEA. Good luck with your applications!
