Oxford Choral Awards … How Do I Say No?

While I’m aware this isn’t something people would usually ask for, I have to know. I recently auditioned for a choral award at Merton, with Somerville as my second choice, and then was offered a choral award at Somerville. However, I’ve now realised I REALLY don’t like Somerville and don’t want to put it as my first choice on UCAS as the award requires. In short, how do I refuse?!

You can simply email the college rejecting the offer. Nobody gets conscripted!

You can of course still apply to Oxford in the usual way, but you won't have a choral award if you are offered a place. It remains a possibility that you might be offered a place at Somerville, whichever college you apply to.

Is Somerville really so terrible? I rather like it.
