should i take combined higher or separate sciences?

so heres the deal im in yr 11 and my teacher has sent out an email about my set turning into combined higher set. i was previously a separate science student in year 10 and it quite normalised for me (im doing higher maths and further maths) etc..

but in that email the teacher sent to us she wrote that students who wish to transfer to a separate set have to do an exam which is on the 11th october (LITERALLY GAVE ME TO TIME TO PREP) but uhh so im in a bit of a pickle

conventionally id like to go for separate but i just know deep down im horrible at any sciency STEM related stuff and id rather get a high grade doing combines higher than a low grade in separate set.

conclusion is: should i go sit that separate test on the 11th or should i give up and accept im horrible at science (btw i dont plan on taaking any sciences for a levels i just want the pretty grade for gcse)

also mother dearest is pressing me to take separate and i do have it in me but i feel like i didnt revise enough in year 10 and now its too late for the upcoming assessment but UGHHH IM SO STUCK IN BETWEEN what do u guys think honest opinions

If you don't feel confident enough to do it, then don't.
I'd say the paper 2 extra content you learn in yr 11 for separate is more than yr 10.
Because you only want good grades, you might get a higher grade in combined than separate in the end (you'd want 9-9 instead of 8s in separate)
Even if you change your mind in the future to choose science in alevel, you don't always need to do separate in gcses.
However, if you were doing well in separate in yr 10, I don't see why you can't do separate in yr 11 if you are determined enough.

I think I would rather have a professional that took a low grade for something they didn't already know than a high grade in something they're familiar with. Year 11 and you haven't had enough yet there's no reason to start costing now
