The way BTEC overall grades are calculated is quite complicated. It's possible to get a DDM overall having achieved a Merit in each individual unit - so don't dispair. What subject is your Extended Diploma in?

(Sorry, I do t have any revision tips to offer.)

Thanks. So, last year you'll have likely taken units 1, 2, 3, and 4, plus two units numbered between 8 and 19. Does that sound about right?

If you'd gained a merit in each of those then you'd have between 85 and 104 BTEC points right now. It's a range because, for Unit 1 and Unit 3 (with exams), you points depends not just on your grade for that unit, but also on the mark you obtained. To gain a DDM overall you need a total of 196 points. So you're likely on track for that.

Put another way, if you gain a merit in each and every unit across the two years you'll have at least a DMM. And that assumes you get the lowest mark in each exam which just earns you that grade. If you achieved the maximum mark in each exam which still leaves you at a merit (i.e. you're just short of a distinction) then your overall grade would be DDD. This is depicted below, using the official BTEC grade calculator. (Obviously I've picked random optional modules, but they're all worth the same points.)

This is me trying to tell you that getting merits in every module is fine. It guarantees you an overall grade in the DMM to DDD range. The exact grade depends on your exam marks.
