EY consultancy or actuarial summer internship

Hi, I am applying to the EY summer internship programme but I am facing a bit of a dilemma. I am applying to both actuarial and general/specialised consulting summer internships (second year studying joint economics degree at LSE), while I am primarily looking into the actuarial sector at the moment I want to spread my bets/keep general financial experience open as I’m not sure if consultancy would provide a higher/lower salary.

The problem is that you can only give a first preference to one internship path in your EY application, with a second preference only being applied for if you don’t get your first choice (like UCAS). While I normally would’ve applied to the actuarial internship as a first preference (as I believe it would look better on my CV/better sector to have experience in?), it is only offered in either London, Edinburgh or Bristol. While the consultancy internship I’m interested in (Risk) is offered in Belfast, which would be much more convenient for me and would mean I don’t have to find accommodation next summer for a few weeks.

Additionally, I have a feeling that the actuarial internship would be more competitive, so would it be better to secure a safe offer of financial (consultancy) experience close to home? (I will be applying/have applied to other actuarial internships in GB). Or given that actuarial is more competitive, should I try my luck on it as first preference, and then fall back on consultancy if I get rejected as my second preference?
Would it be worth the money spent on short-term accommodation in GB to pick actuarial over consultancy at EY? Which eventual grad path would attract a higher salary (both in general and at EY)? For reference, I would prefer a career anywhere in the British Isles outside of London (e.g., Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, Manchester etc.).
