Are my gcse grades good enough for oxbridge?

My gcse grades are 9888876665
9- chemistry
8-economics
8-physics
8-maths
8-biology
7-geography
6-religious studies
6- eng lang
6- eng lit
5- German

My a levels are maths, further maths, econ and computer science

I am thinking of resitting religious studies and English language to at least get an 8 in both of them.
Will these grades be good enough to even be considered for and oxbridge application, thankyou?

Your A level predicted grades will be more important, so once you get your predicted grades, if they're good then it could be worth applying.

Hey, your GCSE grades are perfectly ok 🙂 Oxbridge will look at your GCSEs for sure but as long as they pass the minimum requirements then they more or less won't really judge you for it. You only got one 5 and in a subject that you're not even taking and doesn't really affect your major in any way so it's highly likely they'll overlook that. You got all 8s and 9s for the subjects that you're taking at A Levels so that's really more important than a few 6s and one 5. What you should focus on right now is your A Levels and make sure you get the best predicted grades you possibly can. Good luck, you can do this!!

You might do better to aim for Cambridge rather than Oxford as Oxford put more weight on gcse's when assessing who to interview. But they are contextualised.I would advise visiting the open day in June /July of both and discussing your situation with admissions tutors.

I think resetting English could be a good idea, as English and math are the two subjects that universities require to have 7s and above in on the applications. The main answer to whether it is worth applying though will depend on how competitive your chosen program is at Oxbridge and what your predicted grades are.

No Oxford weight GCSE results at 33% in decision making process.Cambridge more interested in A levels and progression.
