Core module reassesment funding

To say it shortly- I had severe depression last year and it caused me to fail one of the core modules. This year I was told that I should pass the first year modules again. But the problem is that no one can answer the question whether I will receive a payments from the SFE for this year (I had it for two last years). My module is for 3 years + foundation. I had to transfer to the second year. But now I have to do first one again. And therefore - 5 years in total.
I am very worried about this and I request you to give me some advice or answer. Can I get financing for 5 years?

You will have to check that with SfE. Most times SfE will give funding for the full length of your degree + one buffer year. I don't know if Foundation Years are included or not so just give them a call up to see if you still have that buffer year. If not you can send a compelling personal reasons letter to appeal for another year of funding. I've had to do it and you do need evidence (e.g GP letter) but I think if you are open with your Uni about your mental health issues they should be able to support you with this. I think it also helps if you are receiving treatment (such as therapy or medication) to put this in the letter so that they feel that you are capable to finishing your degree. Good luck, mental health problems absolutely genuinely bloody suck but there are options for you!
