it’s my favourite thread
-think it is generous of everyone to share not only their stats., but their hope invested in each choice of options
-really can’t imagine even Cardiff could reject a non Welsh applicant who has a UCAT in the ball park of 3000 ( with the requisite strong GCSEs) but the beauty of this thread is we learn from it
during the application process in real time, along with the aspiring medics

My half sister did her GCSE and A level in Edinburgh too, instead of N5 and Highers, thus not at all surprising! Perhaps the only girl school in Edinburgh that I know of that's doing GCSE and A level!!!

All the best for your application.

No fifth choice as she's deferring entry to take a gap year, so plans to reapply for med and a back up next year.

All the best for your DD's application!

My daughter hasn’t received one from newcastle either. We didn’t realise that until I posted on here Friday evening. She’s going to call them to check on Monday. I’ve heard it should be fine as the other unis have acknowledged her application so the UCAS form should have gone through fine. Maybe they are just slow or it’s gone to spam file etc but good to check anyway.

I talked to my teachers about it and they said not all unis send out emails to acknowledge but I noticed that some people have had them but others hadn’t.
Good luck to your daughter

Hi, not to worry you, but I got an acknowledgment within 24 hours of sending in my UCAS application. She should definitely check her spam of call them x

Newcastle admin is possibly one of the better ones (if not best) based on my recent experience with unis - they are very quick to respond. I applied for biomed for 5th choice and they responded the first Monday after I submitted mine on the 4th, plus previous communications.

Worthwhile checking your spam folder + I presumed your DD had applied for Newcastle's partner? I believe their admin tend to wait for Partners dept to validate your DD's Partner application as well. Am pretty sure they have received your application as your DD can check her UCAS online account too.

Don't worry as it will be just fine - although its totally understandable to be anxious with no acknowledgement!

Thank you to you and the previous posters - she will defo check Tomoz! We think newcastle is a very iffy uni for her but she wanted to try this year as she knows she taking a gap year anyway. She’s not applied for partners as (we believe) she will still be considered in that group for interview chances because she’s contextual anyway (so if she were offered a place it would be a grade higher than partners -ABB rather than BBB, but non partner contextual can be an insurance choice whereas partners offer can’t be) All totally pointless if she doesn’t get an interview of course but who knows what the future holds!
