Finding hard to balance full time work with uni and social life

I am doing a postgrad 2-year course. I need to pay for all my living expenses in London plus part of my tuition fee which is not covered by the loan. I am substantially working around 50 hours a week. I feel quite tired after I am done with work, and I don't have much energy for pretty much anything else. I would appreciate any advice from anyone in a similar position.

Does your job not at least pay for all your expenses + fees? Sorry to hear that you're in a hard time right now. "Hard times create strong men/women" :pizza:

It sounds like you're balancing a lot right now, and that can be incredibly tough. Working around 50 hours a week while studying for a postgraduate degree is a huge load, especially in an expensive city like London. A few tips that might help manage the exhaustion:

1.

Time Management: Prioritize your tasks by importance and deadlines.

2.

Ask for Flexibility: If possible, speak to your employer about adjusting your hours slightly or working fewer hours

3.

Use Student Resources: Many universities have financial support services or wellbeing advisors. Reach out to them and see if they can assist.

4.

Self-Care: Incorporate small acts of self-care into your routine

5.

Study Efficiency: Try focusing on productive study techniques.

You're doing an incredible job handling both work and studies, but don’t hesitate to lean on support from your university, friends, or even your employer where possible. Good luck, and take care of yourself!!!!

Hey,

It's completely understandable to feel burnt-out in this situation. Studying at university (between lectures and self-guided study) is a full-time role in itself, so working another full-time job on top of your course can be a stressful and exhausting experience. I'd strongly recommend reaching out to your university's finance team and asking what financial support your university has to offer: most universities have a hardship fund or similar program for students whose financial situation is directly interfering with their ability to study. Although it's unlikely to fully cover your expenses, it may allow you to cut down on your working hours and offer you some well-earned rest.

Best of luck,
Eve (Kingston Rep).
