im writing my personal statement to apply for a politics degree or politics and international relations, but i have experience in creating a campaign on the humanitarian crisis in palestine and the skills i gained through it? however, would this implication of personal politics hurt my chances of being accepted?

Hi, I think that mentioning your experience with the humanitarian crisis in Palestine can actually strengthen your personal statement, especially if you focus on the skills you gained and how this experience has shaped your understanding of politics and international relations. Admissions committees often appreciate applicants who demonstrate engagement with real-world issues, so as long as you present it thoughtfully and connect it to your academic interests, it shouldn’t hurt your chances
It’s definitely worth mentioning. Nobody should take a political or adversarial position when reading a personal statement. They’re just looking at the skills and initiative you’ve taken.
Hope that helps.
