Can I apply for pharmacy with an AAB

I am very likely to get an AAB in my UCAS grades but the two A’s are in Biology and Art and the B is in chemistry.

Is it possible to still apply to AAB entry requirement universities with a B in chemistry?

Yes, unless the entry requirements for the university states that they require an A in Chemistry. Even then, you could still apply and you might receive an offer anyway.

The first five Google hits for AAB pharmacy courses:

University of Nottingham: "AAB, including chemistry and at least one further science A level from biology, maths or physics." (No requirement for Chemistry to be an A.)
University of Manchester: "We require grades AAB. This must include Chemistry, either Mathematics or Biology, and one further rigorous academic subject (we do not accept General Studies or Critical Thinking)." (No requirement for Chemistry to be an A.)
Newcastle University: "AAB including Chemistry and at least one of Biology, Mathematics or Physics at A Level and excluding Critical Thinking and General Studies." (No requirement for Chemistry to be an A.)
King's College London: "Required grades: AAB. Please note that A-level General Studies, Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills and Global Perspectives are not accepted by King's as one of your A levels. Must include grade A and B in Chemistry and one from Biology, Mathematics or Physics (in any order)" (No requirement for Chemistry to be an A.)
University College London: "Grades: AAB. Subjects: Chemistry and either Biology, Mathematics or Physics required." (No requirement for Chemistry to be an A.)

Have you found any AAB Pharmacy course where they've mandated an A in Chemistry?
my predictions are aab asw where do you plan on applying!

Hi @munalove!

My name is Dom and I'm a 4th year at the University of Nottingham.

We, as a university, would accept your application if you had a B in chemistry! As long as you met the grade requirements of AAB and pass the interview component of your application!

See our page here :UoN Pharmacy

If you have any questions please ask!

Daughter studies pharmacy at Newcastle, she did art A star, chemistry A and physics, A but friends on her course got in with two A s and a B in Chemistry, so yes you have a good chance of getting in with those grades, just make sure the unis don't stipulate you need an A grade in Chemistry

Hey there 🤗

Be sure to carefully review the entry requirements for the universities you're interested in. Many universities do accept a B in Chemistry, so don't worry. You’ll find the perfect fit! Your grades are impressive, and I’d highly recommend exploring the MPharm programme at De Montfort University (DMU). Friends of mine have praised its strong connections with the health sector and excellent facilities, and from my own experience, DMU provides incredible professional support. Although I haven’t graduated yet, I already have an impressive CV and feel fully prepared to enter the job market.

I hope it was helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Take care,

A good source to look at is the 9 standards of pharmacy professionals, these are good to talk about in your interview, also any current/new information about pharmacy that you can discuss and is of interest to you would be useful too! You can find some things for free on the Pharmaceutical Journal or from news websites about pharmacy!

Hope this helps,

Dom 🙂
