QMUL

I'm looking to possibly study film at Queen Mary's, but I've heard that it's not the best experience, can anyone advise me on what life is like there? Also for the course I've heard it's not competitive, is there any reason for this as a couple other unis I've been to had about a 10% acceptance rate for film.

Life at Queen Mary is alright. It's not in the best bit of London but it's decent, rent in campus is cheap, and we're a short tube ride away from all the fun things in town. I assume film studies is not very competitive here because it's not a university particularly renowned for it, but there are a lot of facilities in the Arts 1 building - cinema rooms, studios... so I assume it can't be that bad!

Hia! Just jumping on your post to ask you what you chose in the end? I’m also looking at The film course at Queen Mary’s, but getting very overwhelmed with all the different unis. Are you happy with your choice? Thanks

Hii, in the end I applied to qmul got an offer but didn't end up choosing it as one of my choices. I chose Uni of York as my firm and Portsmouth Uni as my insurance. They both had quite good courses in my eyes and had some accreditations. I didn't end up getting onto my chosen courses however so went through clearing and now go to Bournemouth Uni which has been interesting so far.
