MyCambridge application

Is it worth filling in the extra personal statement section for Cambridge in the MyCambridge form? I know it won't be a point against me if I don't fill it in but will it give me better chances if I do?

Hi,
I would ask your Oxbridge mentor or a teacher involved in your application. I was asked to do it since I applied for HSPS and apparently it was very useful to fill out that section and state why I wanted to do HSPS specifically. Therefore, it may be different for each applicant. There is no harm in doing it but if you do decide to complete the additional statement section, I would get your paragraph checked by a member of staff involved with Cambridge applications as you don't want that statement to weaken your application, this is what I was told by my Oxbridge teacher. Unless it is definitely useful for your course, you don't have to do it and you definitely won't be at a disadvantage if that section is left blank.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
I'm hoping to apply for HSPS as well and was wondering how you picked your colleges?

Generally not really, unless you have something you like that's specific to the Cambridge course. They really don't mind either way.

Hi,

So, my GCSEs weren't perfect and I was worried about applying. I emailed a few colleges like Trinity Hall, Clare, Queen's, Trinity etc to ask them about the application process and whether my GCSEs would affect my application. All colleges emailed back and Trinity Hall gave me the most encouraging and positive response. I chose to apply there and luckily I got an interview. I had also attended their open day but it was difficult to choose which college to apply to. Speaking to them was more helpful since it gave me a bigger understanding of what the colleges are looking for and where my application would fare better. Hope this helps!

Good luck with your application <3
