Student finance

So I was born in the UK and have been studying overseas, I have been in the country for 3 years since my GCSE started. I am now looking to apply to uni but will I be considered a home student or an international one as they have recently changed the rules to 5 years but i was in the country at the time studying. I don't want to take gap years + i cant afford international fees. What do i do or who may i contact

Hi @accused_firearm

I too was in a position similar to you. The general advice is to talk to one of your preferred Unis *and* Student Finance England, or Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland if those are applicable. The rules are a little complicated so you need to talk to, online chat or email the official authorities.

I scraped in by the skin of my teeth, so it’s definitely worth talking to them.

Universities determine your fee status. SFE, SFW or SAAS determine if you are eligible for student finance. For SFE, you need to have been living in England for three years before the first day of your course. Have a look at the following:
