A levels science but no GCSEs science: can I still apply to uni?

My access course lgot me under the impression that as the Access course is higher than GCSEs I won't need GCSEs to apply to uni. However all unis states the requirement for 5 or 6 GCSEs. I'm a mature student so I have completed English and Maths Functional skills. But what about science? Will uni reject me if I don't have it? My access course meets the requirements for the degree I'm applying for. Unis are a bit useless when I send an email, they reply with a generic copy paste from the website. Thanks..

English and Maths are the core ones. Tbf I don't think you need science given your circumstances.

Just to be super certain, contact the uni by phone on Monday. It'll ensure you get a more tailored answer.
If you are thinking of taking a science subject at uni then a GCSE in the subject does matter. If you are applying for some other course then not having GCSE in bio, chem or phys is not important. Its only English and Maths that are critical.

I'm applying for Dental Therapy but I'm an international mature student so was advised to do access course in science + English and Maths. However all unis suggest everyone needs 5 GCSEs including science. The timing is a bit short for me to complete the GCSE in science now as I'm going to apply soon. Hopefully they review each application on a case by case basis but I'd hate to be rejected just because I'm missing 3 GCSE's.

Do you know if they're less strict with international students, I don't know how they expect an international student to complete 5 GCSEs and an Access course, that would take a few years to complete. Yes I'll call them as they're not very helpful by email.
