How long to start receiving offers?

Hi! I’m an international student from Australia, who’s wishing to study history of art in 2025.

I have applied to: Oxford, UCL, St Andrew’s, and Edinburgh at the end of September.

I was wondering how long it usually takes to receive an offer from these unis for this course? I’ve read that more popular courses tend to take longer to hear back from, but as history of art isn’t such a popular course - at least to my understanding - I just wanted to know if anyone here can share their experiences of how long it took them to hear back from these unis?

Thank you so much!!!

Oxford will give you an offer for the interview usually in November/December then you’ll probably be notified by January. Other unis it simply depends, you’ll hear back from all of them probably by March 2025. In any case, don’t expect a quick response.

Each Uni is different, and apart from Oxford, decisions will arrive in a random order depending on how individual Unis work. You could receive these decisions at any time between applying and next April.

If you taking exams soon and expecting results early next year, send your Unis your results as soon as you get them.

First of all, thanks for your response!

In Australia our exams this year are from mid October to early November, and we receive our marks mid December. So I’ve heard that most students have everything finalized by end of Feb at latest. I was wondering if it would be possible to be offered a conditional/unconditional offer before December from these universities, or if that is highly unlikely.

I’ve researched that the unis I have applied to are usually quite slow in providing responses, but I’ve seen quite a few cases with less competitive courses releasing offers earlier on, which I think my course applies to, but I couldn’t find many people who has applied to these unis with the same course in previous years. I just have my fingers crossed I’ll hear back soon!

You may get offers before you get your Australian results - impossible to predict - but sending them your results as soon as you have them may speed things up.

Hi, I am also applying for the history of art program at Oxford, St Andrews, and Edinburgh. I received a conditional offer about two weeks after the Oxbridge UCAS deadline from Edinburgh of ABB and have submitted written work for Oxford. However, I haven't heard anything yet as it is still really early.

Wow congrats on hearing an offer! I just received a conditional offer at St Andrew’s, ATAR 94.3 (I’m international) but I haven’t heard back from anywhere else.
