SPSS/IBM account creation freezing

I downloaded SPSS on my computer and it wants me to make an IBMid to use it, I don't have any problem filling out the information it needs. The problem is when it sends an activation code to my uni email and asks me to copy/paste it then press 'submit' but when I do the whole thing just freezes. I've done it like 3 times now, same problem. I don't know what to do, I can't email the lecturer because he put on the slides that he cannot help us with technical support.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix? Thank you for reading.

Hey there @madan1 ,

I have never had this problem with SPSS but a few things I'd suggest is...

Clear your cookies (and browsing history if you are able)

Shut all of your tabs whilst trying to install

Free up as much storage space as you can on your device including apps you don't need or use

Connect to your uni's VPN

I would say (although I am not an IT expert) that if you've taken all of the steps your uni has instructed correctly, then it may be a processor speed issue so hopefully the above steps will help. If not, don't worry - I'd advise taking your device to your IT support team - here at Bath these are based in the library. Its possible they can do something to help it overcome the trouble its having (for example, sometimes they can plug it into the mains to speed it up).

I hope that helps and best of luck.

P.S - if you are using SPSS regularly then I'd hugely recommend the latest books/articles by Andy Field. His work taught me most of what I know and his writing is easy to follow and humorous!

Hello Holly, thank you so much for your reply. Fortunately it's all fixed now and SPSS is working on my computer . I was choosing the wrong option when pressing on the app. I didn't need to make an account at all because uni had a license code for everyone to use. Thank you for the recommendation! I will definitely note it down because I'm not too good with computers lol. Hope you're having a good day and thanks again for your reply :hello:
