Gcse english lit poetry

For my poetry anthology, how many quotes is recommended to be memorised for each poem?

I am doing Aqa gcse love and relationships so feel free to share resources if you wish!
I learned 3 main quotations per poem and for a few I memorised the entire thing. For some I memorised additional quotes to show structural features too.

I would say for quotes around 4/5 SNIPPED UP quotes (doesn't have to be full thing, can unpick a lot from just at few words!) and make sure they are from the beginning, middle and end of the poem

For resources my teacher told me to look on ebay for notes made by previous Year 11s rather than making them myself and I found these a lot more easier to use than textbooks

I liked yadi2156 on ebay as there is a whole scanned anthology but there are a lot others! GOODLUCK

Hello, firstly, I did AQA love and relationships for poetry last year. I suggest you learn around 10 quotes per poem- which seems like a lot, but they can even be 1-2 words- since short quotations with a lot of analysis will get you more marks than longer quotes

I got a 9 in English literature, and am selling my resources, notes, flashcards and my 30/30 essay in the poetry comparison
(for a reasonable price) if you're interested, please message me!

use comparing/contrasting words like similarly, in juxtaposition, on the other hand, etc
compare poets word choice, context, etc
compare their ideas and why they might've thought that for example if the theme is love - why is carol ann duffy's response to love different to say lord byrons - so talk about experiences etc
So an example paragraph might be:
Carol Ann Duffy views love as an evil entity that causes pain as she correlates love to an 'onion'. This highlights how she views love as a cause for anguish as onions cause tears and therefore Duffy is suggesting that love has a similar repercussion. This idea can be reflected by Duffy's personal life as she was in a romantic relationship with Jackie Kay for 15 years before breaking up in 2004.
On the other hand, Byron views love as pure and innocent and uses an anonymous female figure to highlight this idea by referring to her beauty and placing her on a pedestal, etc, etc...
Use further embedded quotes to support your ideas
hope that helps 🙂
