Friends in London

Hey! I recently moved to London for uni and was wondering if anyone had any tips for meeting new people. I've been talking to people in class and joined a few societies but I feel as though it isn't helping much. Being in an unfamiliar city with no one to talk to is becoming quite lonely and I just want to be able to make good friendships. Does anyone have any advice or is in a similar position? I'd love to meet people with similar interests (kpop, crocheting, music, etc) but am not sure where to begin

Hey sweetheart! London is the last place on earth where you won’t make friends! Trust me, we seem like we’re always in a rush but it’s just the nature of this place haha. A compliment works wonders; the weather, their outfit etc.. “beautiful day today no?” “You have a great sense of style” “I like your…” it’s so easy you’d be surprised!
For example, you can use these lines whilst in a queue, or simply walking past someone on the street. Make friends with your neighbours! And it’s basic etiquette to say good mornings till 10am to anyone walking past you in empty streets =3
If you want specific areas in London where it’s full of a bustling atmosphere, Soho is top- very gen z area, pubs and cocktail bars at every meter- in the evenings it’s full of lively people. A gym membership is another alternative to finding friends!

< Back to Uni friendship making >
I find it that simply giving a nice comment on someone’s work is a great conversation starter; hey, my name is …” *extend hand for handshake* “nice to meet you i wanted to point out that the way you (answered that question/ are so focused/ make your notes/ you carry yourself) is so inspiring/ ‘enter adjective’.” would you like to grab coffee after class?/ are you into K-pop by any chance?/ quick question, which is better cats or dogs? Hahaha”
Open ended questions which are short and fun are key to making small talk not awkward.

For example:
•” hey, how you doing today? You alright?”
=“im doing well, how about you?”
•” I’m good”
. . .
BORINGGGGG

Hope this helps! <333

Hii, thank you so much for all your advice!! I'd say I'm quite a shy person so it can be quite difficult sometimes but I'll give some of your advice a go!! I'm looking into joining a pilates class or something so maybe that will help!
Where in London do you stay?
