Going from memory you will recieve a welcome email and the like very soon, probably next week (although timings may have changed over the years). You'll be asked to complete some forms and some other stuff like guidance from the IT department, your identity verification and DBS check stuff. There will be an occupational health appointment as well at some stage but no need to worry about that now.

You'll get an initial email to the address you were using throughout your UCAS application I think it is, then all further correspondence will be through your University email account. They certainly used to offer institutional access to the Microsoft 365 suite of stuff and OneDrive free of charge for the duration of your studies, too.

These introductory emails will tell you some other dates about welcome (freshers) week and the like. You'll also get a link to access your University timetable via MS outlook.

At some point you will be told where to meet on campus to recieve some bits and pieces, I can't remember if they give first years scrubs or not at this point but you'll get your campus ID badge and lanyard along with some other goodies. The University will send you a link to access a list of key dates and a year planner map which details your formative and summative assessments.

Not long now guys, exciting times. Enjoy first year but work hard: we're counting on you. If you see other people from other years in the BRI or Southmead or in GP placement, say hi. With any luck they might offer to take you to see and do cool things.

If you need advice or pointers or the like along the way, speak to people in the years above or DM myself.

Take care and look out for each other.

E.

My understanding is that once you are accepted for an interview, your UCAT score is not considered although it may be used to differentiate where two candidates score the same in interview.

For Bristol you need to have read and thoroughly understood the GMC document for medical students AND have a good grasp of the pillars of medical ethics.

Once you have done this, tag me and we will start giving you interview style questions to answer.

Little starter question for you prospective medics:

Which of the pillars of medical ethics do you feel is the most important?
