Hi @jezinho_

Our PARTNERS programme specifically does not have a UCAT cut off to be considered for the programme itself.

In regards to applying to Medicine through PARTNERS, I will provide some advice below.

Thank you for your interest in our Medicine and Surgery MB BS (A100) programme.

The admissions process for our Medicine and Surgery MB BS (A100) programme changed for September 2025 entry. Please read through the information below, and visit the ’Apply to Medicine’ page on the School of Medicine website to find out more.

The first step of the admissions process involves screening all applicants to assess whether their predicted or achieved academic grades meet the minimum entry requirements. The standard entry requirements are AAA at A Level in any subjects (or ABB at A Level for applicants eligible for a contextual offer; or BBB at A Level for applicants eligible for and applying through our PARTNERS Programme), excluding the following: General Studies; Use of Mathematics; World Development; Communication and Culture; and Critical Thinking. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Levels, we require a pass in the practical element. For applicants who are taking their A Levels, they must be predicted to achieve the relevant entry requirements above to be considered further.

However, PARTNERS applicants are permitted to be predicted to achieve within one grade of the entry requirements (i.e., BBC at A Level).

Following this, applicants will be given an ‘Academic screen’ score based upon their most recent achieved grades and their UCAT test result.

We will award up to a maximum of 40 points based on an applicant’s most recently achieved grades. For example, an applicant who is taking their A Levels will be scored on their eight highest GCSE grades. Section 11 of the MB BS Admissions Policy sets out how the score will be calculated, and Appendix 1 includes tables of achieved grades and related points that an applicant will be awarded. All applicants must have taken the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) in the same year they apply through UCAS.

Applicants will receive a score out of 60 for their UCAT score. Appendix 1 of the MB BS Admissions Policy includes a table of UCAT scores and related points that an applicant will be awarded.

The ‘Academic screen’ score will be assessed against the interview selection points threshold to decide which applicants are invited to interview. We cannot advise what 'Academic screen' score will be required to be invited to interview, as this would be dependent on applicant performance in the cycle. PARTNERS applicants will be considered with a lower academic screen score, but this is not guaranteed.

Whilst we do not have any specific work experience requirements, at interview our selectors will be looking for examples of how applicants have shown a commitment to caring. This can include volunteering in a hospice, nursery, or elderly care home.

Following completion of the interview, all applications will be reviewed. The final score each applicant attains will be weighted equally between their ‘Academic screen’ score and ‘Interview’ score. Applicants will be ranked and offers made to the highest-ranking candidates.

Our Medicine admissions team have created this video outlining the new admissions policy step-by-step. You may also wish to consult the Medical Admissions Policy here for further guidance.

I hope this helps 😊

Hi @King Al-Qaseem

We have around 342 places for our Medicine and Surgery 5 year (A100) programme, and usually receive around 6 applications per place.

Unfortunately, we don't have the exact number of applicants who have applied this year, I would suggest creating a freedom of information request to see if this information can be shared with you, by emailing [email protected].

I hope this helps 😊

Its not about UCAT threshold for 2025 application, you would probably know that Newcastle uses 40/60 ratio (GCSE/UCAT) for selection to interview. Your total score is 63 out of 100 - whether that would suffice Newcastle's Partner criteria for interview is down to their admission really.

If basing just on UCAT alone, eg 2023 and before, you would be likely to be invited to interview under Partner. The lowest UCAT for 2023 under Partner was 2560 (last round of sole UCAT based scoring). Info from FOI

Your GCSE pulled your overall score down a bit (31/40) so difficult to say for this new scoring that Newcastle use from this year onwards.

All the best.

I have 71 points and non partners/ contextual. I really want to go to Newcastle but starting tot feel I took too much of a risk applying. I had 2/3 alternative options that were safer for interview. Struggling to focus on interview prep. Looking for advice to overcome this hurdle. Thank you.

Within 20 days after your UCAS submission, via email from Newcastle's Partner programme.

I am eligible for Partners but I did not apply for it. Do not worry, it will come sooner or later if your circumstances fit their criteria.

20days period is documented on Newcastle Partners website.

Has anyone got offers for Geography or Politics or IR?

You are in the medicine A100 thread, so probably not here. There will be a general Newcastle thread somewhere where you may have more luck.
