LNAT: Could someone please explain these practice paper questions?

I'm slightly confused as to why these are the answers to the following questions in the 2010 practice paper on the LNAT website (Here is the link: https://lnat.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Practice-Test-2010-paper-2.pdf)
Question 9: 1. C, 2. D ( Originally I answered: 1.D 2.A)
Question 10: 1. E, 2.B (Originally I answered: 1.B, 2.E)

There are many other questions, both in the uniadmissions book and the website tests, where I find the answer just doesn't make sense. I used to be content with my score, but it has started decreasing because of questions like these.

Hi!! I also found these two passages quite hard haha so no worries about struggling!! For Question 9)1) Although D is a common argument that Cameron uses throughout the passage, I'd say its more so directed at other writers, and by just focusing on the first couple paragraphs, where it says 'but the myth of Mars and Venus has given it new currency and legitimacy. What was once just a metaphor has acquired the status of literal, scientific truth. Today, it is widely believed that misunderstanding between men and women is a widespread and serious problem. But is our concern about it justified by the evidence, or is “male-female miscommunication” a myth?', we can see that Cameron is arguing that Grays theory should not be taken as literal truth as it lacks the evidence.

As for 9)2) the official commentary gives an explanation that is much better than I could do- you can find this on the official website.

I havent looked over question 10 for a while so I can't really give great advice on that one but I hope this helps!! Just remember to keep trying as the LNAT is a very tricky test!

Thanks so much for the wonderful explanation and for the time you gave to answer this question, it means a lot to me. I also looked at the commentary for 9)2) which helped.
I’m just wondering that, regarding questions like these, is it just reading the passage better, or is there something else that I could do to truly understand the gist of the argument?
I just feel a bit lost as I’ve done over 600 practice questions but am still struggling.

I find that the best method to do is to first read the passage as a whole, and if there is a part you don't fully understand leave it until you've finished reading the full thing, as content later on could help give context to what is previously mentioned. Also, I think jotting a few key words down on the whiteboard about what you have just read can really help you recognise what parts you understood from the text

Some of these are blatantly wrong. See practice test 1. Passage 7 (Car Ownership) question 4. The answer given by the official site is 7.4.e. But it is asking for a fact and so the answer should be 7.4.a.

Does anyone know if these sample papers resemble the actual test in terms of difficulty?
