Missed Registration Deadline for the MAT Exam

Hi, I'm a student in America and want to major in computer science at Oxford. However, I missed the registration deadline to take the MAT exam. Is there anything I can do?

You will have to wait until next year if you wish to apply to Oxford to study Computer Science. The MAT is an essential component of the admission process. MAT registration for the 2025/26 admissions cycle will probably open in mid August 2025.

A point of detail: Oxford doesn't use the major/minor subject system used in US universities, although it does offer Joint Honours degrees in which two subjects are studied at the same time.

You could try contacting the customer services at Pearson Vue (who administer the test) and see if they will accept a late application. It is unlikely they will but there is an outside chance that they will be lenient because this is the first year the test registration is before the UCAS deadline.

The registration period ran from mid August to early October. The deadline was clearly stated on the Oxford website.

No harm in asking, I suppose, but I wouldn't be sanguine as to the chances of a late application being accepted.
