Should I drop Physics or English lit alevel?

Hi, I’m in a bit of a dilemma right now. I’ve just started y13 and I’ve been struggling for a while to decide which a level subject to drop out of my current line up of History, Maths, Physics and English Lit with me having my options narrowed down to either dropping English or physics. Im predicted BCAB respectively (but my English teacher has said if I improve on a recent essay she could move it up to an A). Anyways im just confused on what to do because while I really enjoy physics and the lessons(probs my fave) , im aware that as I want to study History/politics and Econ at uni, im unlikely to need it in the future. English on the other hand is more related to my degree but I find myself doing almost no revision and work for it - almost like a lack of motivation. I would just drop English as I enjoy the lessons the least but I’m scared I won’t be able to balance maths history and physics, as maths is my weakest subject and I really need to dedicate time to improve in it before June to get an A. And physics is really time consuming revision wise, just to get a B, and the tests are so unpredictable (i do AQA) . In English lit, it takes much less work to get the same grade I would get in physics, as it comes a bit more naturally, and as I don’t really revise for it anyways, dropping it wouldn’t really decrease my workload as significantly. I would really appreciate any advice anyone could give please

If you’re sure you’ll never get a degree where you need physics I’d drop physics. Some of my friends did A level physics and in year 2 it is killer like it will suck up 70% of your time. It only gets harder. Drop the subject you’re worst at cause the uni will not give a **** that you do physics unless it’s needed for the course. You said maths is your weakest and looking at what you studying in uni it doesn’t seem necessary. Is there a reason why you won’t drop maths or do you need maths for economics.

I mean, I would strongly suggest dropping the subject you're getting a C in, which seems to be maths.

With a C in maths, maybe look at less mathematical versions of similar degrees, like PPE, History and/or Politics, etc... If you decide on a degree that doesn't need maths, you could drop it and stick with the subjects you have higher grades in?

I don't know how good you are at maths, so I don't know how difficult it will be for you. What did you get in GCSE? Yes Maths opens doors but probably not when it's at a C...

i cant life if you drop maths u cant do physics so i think u might aswel drop physics if youre not too confident cause im in yr 13 aswell and do physics and im not too confident but im managing its just the exam questions which are crazy but i need to do it for a mechanical engineering degree so if youre not doing a science based degree u dont need physics also if you dont need to focus much on english lu can instead focus your time in maths. Even if you get a C now you can still improve cause i got a B in my last Mock exams at the end of yr 12 but i am predicted A star yr 13 cause my teachers knows i can get an a star so all you really need to do is work hard because maths is very respected especially when it comes to econ the unis will love it

Drop physics then. How about foundation year. Look at universities for the course you want to do and look at the foundation year, you probably won’t need maths for it, it’s only an extra year if your life.

Definitely drop physics. It's 100% the hardest A-level for me (including further maths) and apparently it gets much harder as Y13 progresses. Also, like you said, the exams are so so unpredictable, I know people who were predicted A*s and ended up getting Bs (and vice versa). After you drop, celebrate.
