Has anyone received offers for Law yet? If so, where and what was the offer?

I received an offer for law from QMUL last week:smile: Out of other unis: got confirmation email (that they received my documents) from UCL and Oxford. Still silence from King’s and LSE.
What about you? Where did you apply/did you hear anything back?

That’s great news about QMUL, did you receive their standard offer of A*AA?

I am applying to Cambridge, KCL, Leeds, Warwick & Liverpool.
Sitting my LNAT today.

Has anyone completed their Cambridge specific additional form?

I do the IB diploma and my offer was actually 666 (AAA) and 36/45 points overall. Considering how difficult IB is, it’s kinda equivalent to the A*AA condition.

Nice:smile: Have you received a confirmation email from KCL?

Yes, I sat my LNAT quite early, on the second September. However, it doesn’t rly matter since the LNAT results are released to universities at once
Because of that, we can start leading from KCL in beginning November… But tbh I’m worried that they will be very slow:frown:

I received two offers last week on the same day for law (straight law M100 courses) at Nottingham and Birmingham. I submitted my application exactly a week prior to receiving both offers. The offer from Nottingham was AAA (no longer eligible for the contextual offer, as the criteria has changed for postcode) and AAA or AAB + A in the EPQ (if I firm) from Birmingham. I’m eligible for their contextual offer, but when I spoke to them on the phone they informed me that they only make one reduced or contextual offer per course and reduced offers (i.e. the EPQ offer) take priority.

I’ve also applied to Cambridge, Bristol and Leeds. I’ve been given confirmation that I am eligible for an Access to Leeds contextual offer of AAB for my course. Bristol and Cambridge also confirmed that my application has been received and my college at Cambridge have asked me to sign into their portal, but when I had tried to before it wasn’t working as I had to wait 24 hours. I also submitted my extenuating circumstances forms for Bristol and Cambridge to see, as well as a brief version being on my UCAS reference anyway. Sitting my LNAT on Friday!

Not sure of their rationale why we won’t receive our LNAT results until mid February 2025.

My understanding is that LNAT results will be released to Uni on 21st October

Gosh, yes, it’s annoying me so much! My friends took UCAT and for them the result of the MCQ past immediately appeared on the screen when they clicked “finish exam”. I don’t understand why they can’t do the same for LNAT, or at least release them to us when universities get them 😅

I’m sitting my LNAT on Friday as well! how are you feeling?

Good luck! Honestly I’m feeling okay but slightly annoyed, as I have many tests right now, so squeezing in last minute preparation has been difficult. I’m a little worried about actually being able to enter the test centre, as my passport is expired and I don’t have a driving licence or provisional, so I’ve had to resort to one of the alternative forms of identification listed on the website. I’m going to bring my expired passport and birth certificate just in case, but overall, just ready to get it over with! How are you feeling?

I’m predicted A*A*A in politics, philosophy and psychology (respectively) and I’m doing my EPQ on a socio-legal/comparative law topic, but we don’t get given predicted grades for that, as we start our EPQs in Year 13. My GCSEs are 876554 with severe extenuating circumstances that can explain my results. Honestly I have little to no hope with making it beyond interview for Cambridge, unless my LNAT and/or interview go really well. I’m hoping to at least make it to interview, as I’m eligible for the ARP and would consider reapplying in August with my achieved grades, so long as there are spaces for my course. I think my super curriculars more than anything will carry my application, as they are very unique and all explore my specific interests in law quite well.

I have received an offer from Exeter for law with business! I believe I have also seen some people receive an offer for the standard law course on Reddit as well.

how did your LNAT go if you do not mind me asking?

Honestly not too bad. I won’t know for sure how I did until February, but the MCQ section wasn’t terrible. I think that using a range of resources with varying difficulties made it easier to approach the wordings of the questions. I feel like I scored somewhere in the mid 20s to low 30s, but it could potentially be more or less. I’m hoping for a score of 28 minimum. My essay section was a bit of a blur but I know it was a good essay, just had to structure it in a way that I hadn’t intended on doing (the question was so ‘out there’ that a lot of my points had areas of overlap, meaning I had to integrate them into my paragraphs rather than separating them). Overall, I don’t think that my LNAT performance has hurt my chances, but I won’t know for sure till January, as I’ve applied to Cambridge (that’s when they send out offers and rejections).

How did it go??

To put it bluntly, nothing like how I had hoped. I scored below the national average on my LNAT, which likely contributed to my pre-interview Cambridge rejection. Looking back my personal statement became less and less my own and more what my teachers believed would get someone like me into Cambridge - and by that I mean someone who had encountered so many obstacles that they’re only hope was trying to demonstrate competence by listing achievements. I dropped a grade in all my subjects on results day, despite thinking I was at minimum capable of A*AA and achieved AAB with the B being in psychology. I did get an A* on my EPQ (which came two weeks late) however.

I don’t regret applying to Cambridge at all. Getting the rejection earlier showed me that right now, law isn’t the path I want to take. I was able to secure my place at my firm choice to study philosophy after initially receiving 4/5 offers to study law from Bristol (miraculously), Birmingham, Leeds and Nottingham. This later transformed to 3/3 offers to read philosophy at Birmingham, Leeds and Nottingham via submission of a transfer application. When I opened my envelope on results day, instead of feeling crushed, I felt so thankful that a) I hadn’t done too badly to the point it would destroy me and b) I hadn’t gotten into Cambridge. Putting aside academics at times was a smarter move for me in terms of my career, so I try not to be so hard on myself, as the career achievements thus far outweigh the benefits of academic validation (which really serves me nothing anymore).

If you’re looking to apply to Cambridge and you have the predicted grades, apply. I know people that did far worse than me on the LNAT and got interviews. I know people who had far worse GCSEs than me and got interviews. At the end of the day, it is really a numbers game sometimes for admissions. An interview is your chance to show you’re capable, but if you fall into the small minority like me who get rejected pre-interview, don’t let it dishearten you. As long as you have a range of other options that you could see yourself going to and realistically getting into worst case scenario, I don’t see the harm in using one application spot.
