Hi @gr00vygal06

Sorry to hear you've not been well.

I would try to get in touch with your faculty office when you can. They should be able to advise you on the potential of transferring and what you may have to do to transfer.

You might have an in-person faculty office, but quite often you can find their contact details on your unis website too.

Hope this gets sorted for you.

Hi @gr00vygal06

I am really sorry to hear you have been ill, that is tough. As Emily advised it is worth speaking to your university course leader and school office and contacting the University of Leicester to see if this is a possibility too. Your course leader and/or tutors should be able to give you academic support in the interim too.

From having a look, using the contact details under “Prospective Students” might be the best way to initiate contact with the University of Leicester.

In the meantime, if you haven’t already it is worth getting in touch with your student support services to see what they can do to support you at the moment. I have always found my student support services at the University of Salford helpful and empathetic when I contact them. (I am currently a mature final-year student.)

I hope this helps and best of luck!

Lucy 😊

Hi there,

I would agree that the best person to contact would be the help team at your university. They should be able to give you all of the specific advice you need and can tell you whether this would be possible. They are often quite good at helping you but I would advise going to see them in person and making an appointment to talk to them as it may take longer over email and there may be deadlines by which you would have to make your transfer application.

Talking to the uni of Leicester is a good idea too as this would help you in seeing what their process is and if this would be possible for you to do. I also agree that you should see if you can talk to any students who are currently studying there as this might be quite helpful and can give you a good insight into whether you want to transfer.

Talking to you student support team is good too as they can help you with this and can also support you in getting help and support due to your health conditions. I would make sure to keep in contact with them as they are very helpful and can make sure you are doing okay and if you were in need of an extension for any assignment, they could help you with this too.

I hope some of this helps,

Lucy -SHU student ambassador.
Just to add that it is very, very unlikely to have a mid-year transfer approved.

But Leicester are quite desperate so it is worth asking the question.

Hello @gr00vygal06

I'm sorry to hear about your situation! I agree with other users that it is best to speak to your faculty department as well as contacting Leicester. If you click the top of this link, Neuroscience , you can submit a course enquiry at the top of the webpage!

I thought it would be useful to let you know that quite a few people do a course transfer, or a university transfer, including myself! I completed first year of a course before starting a different course from first year. I have absolutely no regrets and I am really glad I made the switch, even if it means doing an extra year of uni!
