Hi there I am deciding between University of Sheffield and Queen's University of Belfast for Bsc in Biomedical Science with Placement.
For students who did foundation at UoS, what were the percent which managed to attain the progression target needed to continue to study Bsc Biomed in Sheffield? On average, what percentage of student are able to secure an internship during the placement year? I really prioritize employability as tuition fees for international students are high and I feel worried about the lack of IBMS accreditation for UoS bio med compared to QuB which has the ibms accreditation since employers really look for that and generally are unwilling to sponsor international student visa so now I'm even more unlikely to land any decent job. However, UoS has consistently known to be rated highest for student satisfaction and the facilities provided look amazing compared to the limited information I can find online about the facilities and student life etc... of QuB. In addition, I had also heard that teaching quality in QuB is suffering since lecturers there are more research rather than teaching oriented tho I'm not sure if that is accurate towards my degree. I am quite in a dilemma as UoS had initially been my top choice but the lack of accreditation is a stab to the heart. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
