Can you get into the same uni if you dont get a place on results day?

Basically, I love Birmingham Uni - its my dream place to go, but I'm worried about the AAA requirement for my course - if I don't meet this with my A level results can I still try again in clearing? I'm not too sure exactly how it works but maybe they'd fit me onto a similar course or something.
Cheers

There are two main scenarios to consider. The first is where you don't even receive an offer from them. In that case you could, on results day, seek a place on the same course via Clearing (assuming the course is in Clearing). This may be successful (depending, primarily on how your achieved grades compare with those they've decided they'll accept via Clearing).

The other scenario is where you receive an offer and make it your firm choice (given that it's your "dream place to go") but miss the grade requirements in your offer. Universities get your results about a week before you do, and use that time to decide whether they have any scope for accepting any students who've just missed their offer grades. This will primarily depend on how many spaces they have left (after confirming the place of all those who have met their offer grades), and the degree by which you've missed the requirements. If they decide that they can accept you, then you'll know on results day and won't need to enter Clearing. If they decide that they can't accept you, then it's game over I'm afraid. There'd be no point in applying for the same course via Clearing, and they've already considered your full application and achieved grades.

You'd be welcome, however, to apply for a different course at Birmingham via Clearing in that scenario.
