STEM programmes/opportunities

Hi I am just wondering if anyone knows if someone has posted a link or something that contains helpful links for students like the Sutton Trust programme. I am doing Physics, Maths, F Maths and Comp Sci and can't find any.

do you mean like competitions and stuff you can add to your ucas statement?
if so
CREST https://www.crestawards.org/
if you're into more computer-y things all of the free cisco courses: https://www.netacad.com/
british informatics olympiad: https://www.olympiad.org.uk/
british physics olympiad: https://www.bpho.org.uk/
cambridge chemistry challenge: https://www.c3l6.com/
cybercenturion - not sure if it is running this year but i think so: https://cybersecuritychallenge.org.uk/what-we-do/cybercenturion
idk if this is applicable to you stem futures: https://www.imperial.ac.uk/be-inspired/schools-outreach/secondary-schools/stem-programmes/stem-futures/

also you are doing the a levels that I want to, how's it going and are you going to drop one at the end of year 12? or are you in year 13 and have already dropped one? or neither? and is physics actually beneficial?

Thank you for the suggestions. Also I don’t really want to drop any so far but it also has only been a couple weeks so I am not certain as I do know that the coursework will become extremely difficult later on. I would say physics is a subject that you should only take if you absolutely know you are going to need it in the future or else you are giving yourself a HUGE amount of content that may not even be related to what you want to do in the future. Hope this sort of help!
Are you in Year 12 or Year 13?

Year 12

Year 12

Many outreach and summer schools etc are for widening participation - and therefore only open to those eligible for contextual offers etc. One example - Scholars - Widening Participation - University of Liverpool

However, it worth you looking at whats available at Unis near you (even if you plan to apply elsewhere) - one example is UCL - Schools Outreach | UCL Computer Science - UCL University College London - some stuff if individual (UCL Computer Science Summer School | UCL Computer Science - UCL University College London_) other stuff is for whole-school.

Search on 'Outreach' and the Uni name, or 'Summer School' and the Uni name - then see if you are eligible, or email them to check if you are not sure. Some may have had earlier closing dates, but most have spring closing dates for stuff that happens in your Year 12 / 13 summer break etc.

hi, thanks! also, i'm not sure if this is what you want but there are tons of free courses that you can find online for a few different subjects, mainly computing-based like AI or programming but they mostly provide you with credits that you can accept on credly (and then put on linkedin, etc) and also the skills you need to take other qualifications.

i already said about the cisco courses (https://www.netacad.com/) but specific ones such as python essentials 1 (https://www.netacad.com/courses/python-essentials-1?courseLang=en-US) which can prepare you fully for taking the PCEP Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer certification (around £75 i think, for the qualification). also the introduction to cybersecurity (https://www.netacad.com/courses/introduction-to-cybersecurity?courseLang=en-US) is good for an entry-level overview.

another website thats good is teensinai (https://www.teensinai.com/courses/) which have a few free courses, and quite a few paid ones which provide a certificate.

harvard x : cs50x (https://www.edx.org/learn/computer-science/harvard-university-cs50-s-introduction-to-computer-science) is very lengthy compared to the others, but i think that its more respected and well-known.

ibm skillsbuild (https://students.yourlearning.ibm.com/) i got this through dofe, not sure whether you have to pay otherwise. i dont think so though.
