Good grades but don't want to go to uni

I got fairly decent GCSE grades and did even better at A Level.

However I don't think university is for me. I hear a lot of people say that it's for academic people but the thing is, it's never appealed to me. I think university is so overrated and I'd be happier settling for a job that pays enough to live off.

Is it odd for someone with good grades to not want to go to university?
Surely there are other options?

Most people who say "University is a scam/waste of time" are people who have been to university already and are benefitting off the rewards somehow. Don't fall for it.

Those that haven't been, but say it, are echo chambers - speaking on something they haven't experienced at all. Never ends well for most of them.

However, university is not the only option out there anymore. And it's not "odd" to prefer something else. Don't waste your good grades.

Look into apprenticeships. The job market now is not to be relied on for a "job that pays enough to live off" anymore. You may find yourself looking for a job for the total time you might have been at university (3 years+) and still nothing.

I understand what you're saying but most apprenticeships are in industries I have no interest in - technology, finance and accounting.
Also, most people I know who went to uni are struggling to find a job.

What industry are you interested in then? Surely there's internships (with a possibility of progressing on to permanent contracts or something).

Also, what makes you think you will be able to compete with those that already have degrees? Unless you have some sort of experience like 1 year plus in your preferred industry..
