Eligible for free school meals but didn’t receive it

Hi,
I’m applying to uni this year and it’s for a foundation year course like a gateway programme at Bristol. To be eligible only those who were in care or received free school meals or attend a certain school can apply.
I was eligible for free school meals a couple of times last time I would’ve been eligible was 2 years ago due to getting child tax. But I never applied so I never got them. I also came to this country as a refugee seeking asylum. Do I just put that I did receive free school meals on the UCAS portal? School is sending off my application this week I’ve put “don’t know” option but I really want to get in this course but I don’t want to have any trouble.
Can someone please help? On their eligibility for the gateway programme Bristol uni say that if you were eligible or are you can apply but when I emailed it says on their admissions sheet you need to have been in receipt of them to actually qualify.
