Oxbridge History and Economics. Which option should I choose?

Currently in a position of applying to either:

Oxford for History and Economics

Or

Cambridge for just History

My personal statement has a lot of economics/politics related discussion and is arguably more suited for Oxford. However, Cambridge does specifically mention how you can explore history from Economic/Political perspectives. Therefore my personal statement may be fine?

I do not do Maths A level and so I believe that this makes it much harder for me to get an offer from Oxford as it although is not a strict requirement, pretty much is.

I was wondering whether anyone had any insight about the better decision. For context I have achieved A levels A*AA with A in EPQ + GCSE's 888777777. Currently also looking at LSE Economic History and UCL History Politics and Economics (my PS was originally designed for these courses if that makes sense?).

If you haven't done Maths A-level you haven't got a hope in hell of getting for Economics.

hi! i found myself in the same situation as you were in a few months ago, also applying for lse economic history btw. course content was the most important aspect in my decision, as i looked at the modules i was interested in for both and ended up going with cambridge history - to me, there were more overt economic history-focused modules, and quite a few intersecting with the medieval period which is a personal interest of mine.
the admissions statistics for oxford history and economics + interview structure + general lack of integration between the two degrees, at least for me + course structure + TSA put me off oxford hist&econ in the end. maybe you can take a look at some 'with economics' courses offered at a few other unis? however, oxford does seem to have more economic history-focused faculty, at least within the history dept. like the first commenter has said, if you don't have maths, it's best not to pursue economics at oxbridge - not only because of admissions but also because of how you might keep up with the course.
best of luck with your decision!

Hi thanks for the reply! I made this post a while ago and am going to be going UCL in September. Congrats on Cambridge thats very impressive 👍

Congrats on UCL. I am also applying to History, Politics and Economics there. I was wondering which other universities you applied to and how you ended up at UCL. I am also considering LSE economics and economic history, KCL history and political economy and two pure economics courses at other universities(not sure which other unis yet)

I had achieved grades so got unconditional offer. I got A*AA in history, english and economics. So i did not need to choose an insurance either.
