Would History Coursework work out in GCSE?

Imagine if we were set a couple of assignments. For example, one written assignment to complete in about 1-2 months and maybe one PowerPoint Presentation on a historical subject - both should be low stake content. Some may find coursework easier more than others, so that's why it might be fairer for them.

Apparently, Labour have some big plans for schools which looks exciting, including assessment reform. I really hope they can balance assessments in the GCSE Curriculum (such as bringing back coursework, reducing exam content - but I definitely think exams should stay though - and maybe give students a chance of whether to take a more academic or vocational root in their education).
