vet nursing advice

can anyone recommend somewhere i could do level 5 maths and biology online?
i currently work full time and would like to do the level 3 vet nursing diploma next year, however i dont have the qualifications i need to do the course, any help would be appreciated, nervous at the thought of giving up my full time job to do this but i want a complete career change, i would be classed as a mature student (37) im also not sure if i would get any financial help, ive never been to uni so a little unsure of how these things work, any advice welcome. Thanks

Do you mean at GCSE to get grade 5? The National Extension College (https://www.nec.ac.uk) do GCSEs, but you have to take the exams in-person and pay for them. I think they do financing if you qualify.

If you don't have the GCSEs at all (or less than a grade C, I think), you might be able to do them at a local college. Many have evening sessions so it could potentially work around your job.
thank you for your reply 🙂 i have a standard grade in Biology but i got a 4 so ill need to try and find a course online, can only seem to find a level 7 through Aberdeen Uni online, thats who im currently looking into doing the maths course with, fingers crossed

Hiya! I’m a diploma qualified RVN and had to re-sit my GCSE maths to get into Vet Med back in 2022. I googled local GCSE exam centres in my area (Birmingham) that would take on all ages and found somewhere. The exams will be in person, not online unfortunately and biology usually entails a practical element - or so it did when I sat biology 10 years ago, but it should also be noted that this was the higher paper.

Personally, I would google the best exam boards for each subject. I personally picked Pearson for my maths as I was recommended to by a family member who works in a school. I would try and be organised with it, as for late entries there is an additional charge - I believe the cut off before additional charges for me was Feb to be able to be entered for the summer exams.

Best of luck
