Maths is looking outrageous

I'm a first year undergraduate Maths student and I know it's only 2 weeks into my course but I just can't seem to get my head round some of these introductory topics, not to mention the coding we have to learn alongside it. The workload is so heavy. Are there any Maths students or ex students out there who have felt the same and does it get better?

Hi @jmazzalowski,

What university are you going to?

It can take some time to adjust owing to the difference in structure and abstractness of uni maths compared to school stuff. But all unis are different, so as the previous poster said, it would be helpful if you could say which uni you're at. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, at least give us a clue - are we talking Oxbridge, or other Russell Group uni, or something lower ranked but still challenging?

Also, when you say "coding", do you mean as in programming? Are you doing joint honours with CompSci, or are you just expected to do some basic coding alongside the maths? Has this come as a shock too, or was it explicit in the course summary when you applied?
