TMUA

I am taking the TMUA next week and I am wondering how much my grade will be taken into account and what I should be aiming for.
I want to apply to Imperial and LSE to study Mathematics and Statistics but whilst practicing so far, I am getting a maximum level 6. How much would it affect my application if I took the TMUA next week and got a level 6 and would it be worth it to reschedule the exam for January (also considering how Imperial prefers the October sitting)?

If you feel like you cannot improve whatsoever and are unconfident in taking the test then yes reschedule it. But also (correct me if im wrong) as LSE does not say that the TMUA is mandatory for this course, i doubt it would be a really important factor in making their decision. So if you feel like you can get a score of 6.5 (which is the average) then i feel like that would be satisfactory for them. 🤷*♂️

Thanks for your reply! Do you know anything about Imperial because I’m more concerned about how they prefer the October sitting?

Hi . I’m actually in the exact position as you, hoping for Imperial/LSE for the same courses. My current TMUA score from practise is only a 6.5 too but not that confident. Are you an early applicant?
I have heard some people didn’t sit the TMUA at all and have gotten offers for financial math and stats from LSE but with top tier grades ( 4 A*) . I did email LSE to ask something similar will also reply when they respond

Thanks for the information! I am not an early applicant, are you? Are you planning on sitting the October or January exam? It‘s getting so close to the October sitting, I’m getting worried not knowing whether or not I should cancel!

Hi. I am an early applicant and right now I’m planning on sitting the October test, but if time comes (in the next week) where I think it’s not worth I may switch because I also have the MAT on 31 and I’ve only started revising like barely a month before the date. I think the best thing to do is maybe just do as many papers in time condition, see how it is and if it’s just not good enough (I’d say atleast a 6 as a very base line level) then I would think of cancelling. Otherwise just try your best as many applicants are also anxious.

Also LSE still haven’t responded to my email 😐.
