Hull York Fast track to interview

I'm planning on applying to Hull York Medical school and have completed the Reaslising Opportunities program, on their website it say's I am eligible for the fast track to Interview as I have a Ucat decile above 4 and meet the essential entry requirements. However, I just wanted to be sure that the fast track to Interview means they do not calculate points similar to the normal selection process and it is instead a direct route to Interview. If they do is there a cut off score for fast track to Interview. I've tried emailing the admissions teams but they did not respond I really need help.

What are your predicted grades if it not the grade requirement for the standerd course apply to the foundation med. that was the mistake I made. Then I think you should be fine but call them don’t email because when they told me the right answer I could not change my options. Hope this helped

The minimum UCAt for my year was around 2400 for if you did an access program it may change

Hello guy, fortunately I did get a fast track to Interview and an offer. From my experience to say as long as you meet the requirements for the fast track (so being in a specific decile, predicted grades and widening participation) you are guaranteed the interview.

They gave me reduced grades for hull york med but it was not clear if the reduced grades was the grades i could use to apply to the course i emailed them the did not help much. they kept se3nding me links to there website which did not make it any clearer that is it really. Also use the student room threads to see what ucat scores got an interview it really helps and i would say to avoid schools that like calculate a score to give interviews like leister if you have either low GCSE's or a low UCAT as it really a gamble if they will take you. But if you calculate your score and it high like 2 point higher that the lowest last year it aa safe bet to apply if is a point above the lowest last year its a bit risky

Hi thanks for giving such detailed feedback, I am really glad you got an offer and I just wish I get into Hull york, it is the best possible outcome as I can live at home as it is really close to my hometown.

U would say to practice a lot I know it sounds obvious but it really helps and you can use chat gpt to make some practice questions and have it analyze your answers to see where you can improve on. I would say find one thing that helps show you understand teamwork and link it to your own experience and reflect on them. And find any flaws you have and critique them and how you have worked on it. Also you don’t need hospital work experience I did mine in a care home and a day care and it fine as long as you can link it to how the experience help your decision to want to study med and make sure you reflex in your work experience. And during your interview try to smile and fake your confidence cause after 2 stations you will feel more comfortable. And it okay to mess up just recompose yourself. And if your don’t understand a question ask them to repeat it as it better than answering the wrong thing

Like the other comment said practice a lot try look at past questions but don't be too worried as the interviewers are quite nice. I'd advise looking at the simulation tasks as they don't do a role play but rather have you watch a video and answer questions in response (you also have a really short time to respond like 40 seconds I think) make sure you read up on the uni the course and also the location. If you have contextual they do give 10 extra points for the interview

Heya, when you first get their you'll do the group session in this. I'd suggest to remember other peoples name, discuss things holistically, and add on yo other peoples ideas, but don't be overbearing Then you move on to the rotational stations they'll ask you questions on current events for instance vaccines, a question that will always appear in some way is "why hyms" make sure to discuss both hull and yorks geography, population and then the schools teaching systems and facilities and how YOUR experience will help you work in such an environment. You should also learn the gmc guidelines and any recent changes as I got caught out by one in my interview. The simulation for me personally was quite difficult as they play a video of an actor, and then you will have 30 seconds to respond to questions best on each clip. For me, I revised by creating model answers and practising with friends and family, then jotting down sny points I MUST make, e.g, talk about a multidisciplinary team or open communication, etc. ALWAYS make sure to link any work experience it doesn't even have to be medical just make sure your always bringing in your own experience.
