He asked me to help him...

Hiya,
So I like this guy and we were talking back and forth (basic stuff right)through text and in person. Well, today he was like "Does friend X have so and so?
I replied "Ya she does! Why do you like her?" I say this in a easy way as I do with everything (What can I say its my personality)
HE THEN GOES "possibly" POSSIBLY he went POSSIBLY (I wanted to cry cause I clearly like him though he doesn't know that)
We then continue talking and I'm panicking so I try and learn more about the situation, I ask things like do you want me to help set you two up? (his reply was how would you do it? It's a yes or no question not how would you do it!) or other things and he would leave really open replies with teriable answers. I try to understand the situation and I don't want to make it weird so I give him advice on how to get close to my friend. HE then goes and asks me about how much I told my friend about this little chit-chat. (cause I asked her if she had so and so he asked about) I said not much just that you were asking about so and so.
His reply was something like good I thought you threw me under the bus there
I just said no I'm not a jerk don't be worried
But what do I do I like this guy and he likes my close friend
Also to make it worse my really close friend who he likes, SHE likes someone else... (talk about a romcom) who she is trying to get with
So I need advice anything please!!! (I beg you) If you don't understand anything I said I will try and explain it better sorry!!!!
