Predicted Grades & Offers

Hi guys. I know this is a really silly question as it will be different for every uni but I’m struggling to find specific info online. In general, if I am predicted A*AA and apply to a course with AAA entry requirements, is my offer more likely to be A*AA or AAA? I’m not sure if I can achieve A*AA, but my school wants to predict me that and I guess it might increase my likelihood of getting an offer. I don’t know whether I should ask to only be predicted AAA though incase I can’t meet a higher offer. Any advice on this would be great!!

It depends on the uni. Most will just give you the published entry requirements.

Some Scottish ones and Oxbridge may 'challenge' you and give you a higher entry requirement.

I’m planning on applying to imperial, Warwick, Nottingham, Bath and Keele. Do you think the offer would be the same as the entry requirements for these?

I can't remember if Imperial does interviews for all subjects. If they are doing it for your subject and you... brag a little too much about your abilities, then you may find that you have a higher offer. I've heard anecdotally from an applicant that another applicant said they really really liked maths and were very very good at it (this was for a computing interview) and so they got an increased STEP offer - just something to keep in mind...

I don't believe the rest would increase the entry reqs. Bath certainly doesn't.

Depends on the university. I recently applied to my 5 unis, and got an offer from QMUL. It was their standard 666 (AAA) offer for law, despite the fact that my predicted grades is 45/45 (full points on the IB diploma), which is basically an equivalent of 5A*. Yet to see how my other unis behave, but from this and the spread sheets (that you can find here in some threads) for UCL and LSE offers, I don’t think your offer should change.

Don’t know about the other ones, but imperial has such high entry requirements that they don’t have much space to raise them. Their very typical entry requirement is A*A*A or A*AA and those can’t change much basically.

Thank you! Luckily my course doesn’t interview.

The entry requirements for my course at imperial is AAA so I guess it could go up?

Yes, this one could. average achieved grades of people studying at imperial is A*A*A* for some of their courses, so they will likely raise yours a bit. What is the course you’re applying for? Maybe it’s not as competitive

Biochemistry
Outside of Scotland, the published standard offer is the one the vast majority of successful applicants receive.

Is the standard offer the same as the entry requirements or will it say specifically somewhere else on the course page?

Yeah, it will be the same. Some unis list them as 'entry requirements' (which is a bit confusing as it implies you'll get an offer just by virtue of having those grades, when there is more to it than that) whilst others state 'standard offer'.
