LNAT- ran out of time

Hi!
I recently completed the LNAT exam and found it a lot worse than expected...
I thought that section B was great and I had a good essay question, however I am worried that they won't even look at it as I found section A so bad. I ran out of time and so had to rush a lot of the questions meaning I didn't understand a lot of the sources. Fingers crossed I didn't do as bad as I think but I have low expectations- I think it's safe to say that was the worst exam I've ever sat. Any advice? Did anyone else find timing a problem and should I completely give up all hope for Cambridge now??

Hi! I did mine today and had the exact same feeling and worry! I’m hoping it will all work out for the better for both of us but just letting you know that you’re not alone :smile:xx

Ah thank you so much that made me feel a bit better! I’ve been stressing cause I’m a bit stupid and only applied to LNAT unis so I’m thinking I might have to retake next year 😬 but hopefully it’s gone better than we both think and I wish you the best of luck for getting into whatever uni you want to!! Keep me updated

You and me both- just did mine today and that was my exact experience. I remained calm, but was really disappointed that it didnt go as smoothly as id hoped.

Also, i dont know if this will help but if you ran out of time, it’s probably bc u spent more time at the start considering the answers- meaning u have a higher chance at getting those right then if u had just rushed through the entire exam to get it all done. So dont overthink it to much.

Its an extremely difficult exam and I think its rare to come out thinking you aced it- you never know, so remain positive (im applying to oxford so i too am telling myself this!!) dont give up, the worst they can do is say no- and that would be the same result as having not sat the LNAT/ applied. Be proud of yourself for even taking it!! And you never know, cambridge etc they actually care more about the essay so you really dont ever know and theres no point in dwelling on it now because its over (thanks god!!)

Good luck to all of us, at the end of the day we gave it our all and its out of our hands!

That's so sweet- you've really helped to reassure me! I just wish we found out now... can't stop thinking about it but what's done is done and I think a lot of us are in the same boat so fingers crossed for the both of us!!

That is definitely a good point - the average is 21 (I think) so if you considered the first half of the questions really well and got most right and then maybe got a few of the other ones right you could still get above average! Plus people have been accepted to Cambridge with as low as 19 (source: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/lnat_score_in_the_past_admission).

I think the only thing you can do is just remember that Cambridge take everything into account - a great personal statement, strong essay and good predictions can get you an interview. Don't worry yourself too much because it is out of your hands but ykw sitting the LNAT is an achievement in itself! When I sat my LNAT I was MUCH tighter on time in the exam so I rushed a little too. It's normal to think you did bad - everyone does, but definitely don't lose hope

Tell us how it goes afterwards, Cambridge usually put quite a lot of value in their interviews as they invite so many to interview for so few spaces, so good luck!
