Electrical Engineering or Math

Hi there. Im having a hard time deciding between electrical engineering or Math degee. Im really good at math and I enjoy it, im also good in applied math. I have A* in math and A in further math. However i read online across multiple places thay engineering is poorly paid in uk. I like both of the degrees but obviously would want to go for one which can statistically help me make higher income. So which would you recommend?

Lead engineer here who is definitely not poorly paid.
I'm not sure where you got this information from, but from experience I can share that ON AVERAGE engineering internships at £18k-24k/year, graduate roles and programmes are £28-36k/year, lead/senior engineering positions £40k-60k, principal around £60k and above.
If that's considered a poor pay then you gotta readjust your scales a bit.
Yes the economy is in a downturn, but that's affecting everyone, not just engineering professionals.

There are, of course, exceptions to every rule and there are interns who get paid like £40k and senior/principal engineers paid £30k but that's definitely not the norm. Also London wages vary wildly.

So, back to your question, I personally recommend you do what you think you are going to enjoy doing for 30-40 years as your future career.
I also can't comment on maths degree and although I think much of the knowledge is transferrable to real world especially in digital operations, but I know for sure there is always going to be high demand in all industries for good engineering professionals.

Hi I'm in the exact same boat as you - can I ask if you have come any closer to a decision yet?

Devided to go for math and econ i love math and combining it with econ would be a solid degree imo.
