Biology plants multiple choice question

Hi, please could I have help on this question please? I don’t understand why the answer is C and why the other answers are wrong? Thank you.

Here is the question: https://ibb.co/YjNL4jH

A (epidermis darkly stained layer of cells, xylem hollow vessels):

While the xylem vessels are indeed hollow, the epidermis in the image is not darkly stained. The darkly stained areas are more likely to represent vascular tissues like xylem and phloem, not the epidermis.

B (epidermis formed of a single layer of cells, xylem strengthened by lignin):

Though it's true that xylem is strengthened by lignin, the epidermis in this photomicrograph is not clearly identifiable as a single layer, nor is it the most prominent feature in the image. The focus here is more on the internal tissues like xylem and phloem.

D (vascular bundles arranged in a regular pattern, xylem large dead cells):

While xylem cells are large and dead, the vascular bundles in the image are not arranged in a particularly regular pattern. Instead, they seem scattered throughout the tissue in a less orderly arrangement.

Long story short: C is the most ACCURATE description.

Thank you so much, just one more question, is the darkly stained area on the edge not the epidermis?

It probably is but since that's not the main focus of the image it shouldn't matter.
