online distance learning access to medicine course

Would anyone who has successfully completed the Access to Medicine online distance learning course and have been accepted to medical schools like to share their experiences, please? Also, if you could list which medical schools you have applied to with this qualification, that would be super helpful!
Thank you!

Hi, did the Access to Medicine Diploma (online) and applied to Edinburgh, King's, Exeter, and another one I can't remember that didn't get back to me at all so I withdrew my UCAS application to it. By then, I had been offered a place at Edinburgh and Exeter. You can look at the Entry Requirements (including qualifications accepted) on each medical school's website and filter it down that way too as it can change year to year. If you're uncertain of a specific qualification or background, best to email admin staff at the medical school.

How did you get your predicted grades? My college is saying they can’t give us any predicted grades right now as we haven’t done any exams/coursework plus we have only been with them for 3 weeks so they dont know us well enough. I am so scared as my whole application is all done and really good but this predicted grades is stressing me alot. I did some research some people applying with predicted grades and some don’t and i have seen people saying unis assess access students applications differently than A levels.

Hey I’m sorry to hear you’re having a difficult time. Hopefully the clouds clear. I started my Access course in April and completed it in April the following year. This meant by Sept/Oct applying time, I had already sat some module exams and handed in several module courseworks which were all graded distinction, so my tutor gave all distinctions as my predicted. My offer was also for all modules to have achieved distinctions. In terms of uni’s assessing Access students differently to Alevel students - I haven’t found this to be the case in my experience as most verified resources (aka the med school’s official handbooks or websites) will state that they assess us the same. But I do understand where you might be coming from e.g. because I did my GCSE’s so long ago, they didn’t require me to provide my certificate for English Language (I did pass but wasn’t required to provide proof essentially due to how much time had passed). For your predicted grades, it might be worthy to email an experienced Access course tutor in your college and explain the dilemma and if there’s anyway around it (because there usually is). Also, when I was applying I do remember some unis saying that if Access students didn’t have their predicted grades yet to not to worry as apparently we could provide them later/when we do get them, to the uni. Hope that helps!
