Mental health and wellbeing at BCU

Being supported at university is hugely important, it can be a time with lots of new challenges and changes, which even if they're positive, can impact your mental health and wellbeing. Let’s talk about how we support the mental health and wellbeing of our students at BCU.

We have a dedicated mental health and wellbeing team consisting of counsellors, mental health advisers and wellbeing advisers. We offer free, confidential appointments 51 weeks of the year, Monday to Friday across our campuses.

Our experienced, professional advisers can help if you are experiencing all kinds of issues, including:

Concerns about your wellbeing anything that is getting in the way of your studying and enjoying life at university, including concerns about relationships, sexuality and gender, accommodation difficulties, healthy lifestyle and homesickness.

Emerging mental health issues sleeping problems, feeling anxious or isolated, experiencing low mood, thinking about harming yourself.

Diagnosed mental health difficulties or illness.

We emphasise that you don’t have to be at crisis point to reach out, Every year, we see many students who have a range of wellbeing concerns or mental health support needs, so you are not alone in what you are experiencing.

Our services are free and confidential.

We also offer a lot to support your wellbeing as a student. Such as our wellbeing app that aims to support you throughout your studies, helping you to create healthy habits, increase productivity, and live a healthy and positive lifestyle. The app is available 24/7 and has loads of tips and tools to help address concerns such as anxiety, stress, managing emotions, and confidence.

We also run BCU Active classes to implement movement into your day and our students run the Mental Health Society and Pop the Kettle on Society a place to connect with other students and speak about mental health and wellbeing or just make friends!
