Computer Science

Hello! I'm new and need to get some help on a problem I may be facing.

I'm currently studying a BTEC National Diploma in IT Practitioners as well as AS levels in Business and Media studies. Now I want to find a course which will improve on this but I have only just realised that 4/5 of my choices need Maths at A level. Do I change all of my choices before it's too late or shoukld I risk it to get on a course which will give me better future prospects?

Thanks guys xx

I really wouldn't apply to that many places that require mathematics if you aren't taking it and cannot take it. By all means have a couple but if you risk it and they all reject you, you won't have many options left. If I were you I'd risk it on a couple if you really wanted to, but have a couple / a few as backup.

Are you sure Computer Science is what you want to do ? - it's a lot more theoretical then the BTEC you've done (hence the requirement for A-Level mathematics), you might prefer doing a more applied course (unless of course you want a more theoretical course).

i did btec and am doing comp science at kent and i am coping fine with it and i love every aspect of it (apart from 1 crap businessy module that we all take in somester 1 (called information systems, its to get everyone interested so they opt for the it consultancy practise they have on campus for 2nd year))

anways, yeh i didnt do maths and we have some pretty funky maths if i am being honest but it doesnt matter, if you put the time in, get some help on here if needs be and u will be fine, there are plenty of really good unis for comp science that dont even need maths (yes i no before i get spanked, the "best" unis need maths)
