Are my choices good?

I’m looking to apply for law with predicted 3 a*s. I’ve thought about applying for Oxford,LSE,KCL,Bristol and Kent. I’m seeing people saying you shouldn’t bother with safe options like Kent and should just go all RG with my predictions and subject.
If I were you I would apply for another rg uni that has AAA requirments.
I had similar grades A*A*A (last year) and only got one of my RG offers back so I think at least one safe option is a good idea😭 I’d only say there’s no point in a safe option if let’s say you don’t get offers from anywhere but your safe option and you are certain you wouldn’t go there and instead would try clearing/taking a gap year and reapplying.
Also, I know this wasn’t the question but the Russel group unis you listed really care about your personal statement (esp LSE) so make sure you have a strong one! Also, I never applied to KCL myself but I’m pretty sure they don’t accept anyone who doesn’t score 30 or higher on the LNAT so that’s also something to consider!

Yeah I think with how competitive law is I don’t know how worth it a safe option is. I probably wouldn’t want to go to Kent as my career prospects wouldn’t be amazing.

I think KCL is high 20’s which I was averaging in practice so it should hopefully be fine. As for my personal statement it’s pretty solid.

I suggest that you should not assume that such would be the case, as your personal qualities would matter more than the name of your university. Some employers conduct selection exercises university-blind. The reason for trying to get into a university with higher entrance standards is that such a university may (not must) better equip you to compete in selection processes.

But your safety choice ought, I suggest, to be somewhere you would like to study, in case your exams don't go well, and not just a random pick which you don't wish to go to.

Hi,
I hope you are well! 😊
Those universities and grades sound amazing, and law sounds really interesting too!

While Oxford, LSE, KCL, and Bristol sound amazing, I wouldn't rule out Kent as a safe option (unless you know you don't want to study here) because Kent does have a good reputation for Law.

Kent Law School has a fantastic Law Clinic which provides free legal advice and representation to those unable to afford it, and opportunities for our students to experience the law in action.

In addition, the University has an excellent employment record, with Kent Law School graduates commanding some of the highest starting salaries in the UK. Law graduates can go into a variety of careers, including Solicitor or barrister in a private practice, Company lawyer, Legal work within government, Legal work within the charity and NGO sector, Non-legal careers, such as banking, finance and management.

With that being said, it's really important when choosing your options to make full and realistic use of your options.

There's no reason why you shouldn't aim high! And with your grades, the universities you have stated sound amazing!

But it's important to check out entry requirements, prior tests if these are applicable, finance, societies, social life, among other services such as student support etc, when making your choices.

In addition, as others have said, having a really strong personal statement is important when applying to Russel group universities, and having a back-up/safe option is always a good idea. When choosing a safe option, I would, as others have suggested, choose a university which you would be happy to go to if you don't get into any of your other options.

Choosing your options is such a subjective process, and it really does depend on your grades, university expectations, career routes etc, so taking the time to choose and search through different degrees is super important!

I hope this helps! 😊

Best wishes with all of your applications!
