Hey guys, with open day season just around the corner and your minds swimming with possibilities I thought id pop on here and just encourage everybody to attend as many universities open days as you can!
Here’s a couple of things that I was able to do at an open day at Liverpool Hope that really solidified it as the Uni I wanted to study at.
1) I was able to talk to students who were already studying the courses I was interested in. The students I spoke to were open and honest about their journey so far and what the course entailed. This helped me to decide that Sociology was definitely the course that I wanted to apply for.
2) Being able to talk to the careers team about what they do for students looking for employment throughout their time at university. Whether this be helping students get into part time work whilst studying, building CV’s that can be taken anywhere and ultimately having great links with employers in the area for once you have completed your degree and are transitioning to full time employment.
3) As cliché as it sounds, you really do get a feel of a university and whether it might be somewhere you can call home for the next 3 years. I’d of course encourage you to get to the open days, but I also can’t recommend having a look around the city/area enough. Just taking an afternoon to explore can sometimes be a deciding factor. I know it can seem scary moving away from home, so this is the best way to prepare yourself for a new place. You never know, you might think it’s boss and you never want to leave and end up picking up bits of the accent on your way!😉
